142.6mm of rain fell
here at Opara
in the past 5 days
This most recent storm event
the result of another
tropical atmospheric river
but now
the rain seems to have stopped
for the moment, and is expected to clear
we can actually see clearly across
the very full very muddy harbour
for almost the first time in 5 days
there are even some patches of blue sky
peeking between the clouds
that rain level counts as low
relatively speaking, for Northland
in this torrential storm
only one smallish slip along our road
now marked by FNDC cones
all the potholes filled with water of course
and more work to be done
to improve the road against future events
now we wait for the ground to dry out
…. and watch the tides slowly wash
the muddy water away.
